Back from vacation!

We spent two weeks in Italy - in Rome, Florence, and Vernazza (in the Cinque Terre), and now are back and recovering from jetlag. Here's a few drawings I did, mostly in Vernazza, where we had the most time to sit and draw.

Show at Essential Baking Cafe

We just put up a show at the Essential Baking Cafe in Wallingford/Fremont:

Essential Cafe Wallingford (The Essential Bakery Cafe)
1604 North 34th St
Seattle, WA 98103

It will be up through August. Go see it if you are in the area. Another reason to go is the bakery's amazing cinnamon rolls. Seriously, the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had. They have lots of yummy, yummy food there!

I Shop Indie

We are part of a really cool advertising collective called I Shop Indie. The idea behind it is that indie craft businesses can pool their advertising dollars to purchase ads that they couldn't afford on their own. The result is a website that is a hub for independent designers, and consumers can click through to individual designers' websites. In the end, consumers benefit from being exposed to a greater choice of goods than they would otherwise, and are also exposed to an alternative to mass produced goods.

This is one of the reasons that the indie business community is so great. Not only are designers creative in the products that they make, but in their overall approach to business. The community is constantly coming up with new ways to spread the word about their businesses, and doing it in a collective, mutually supportive manner.

Anyhow, that's my plug for indie businesses everywhere.

Little paintings

painting by liz wong
I was going to upload 8 images of paintings that I recently finished, but as I have the slowest internet connection in the world, here are a just a couple. More to follow. This is a little acrylic painting on wood, about 6 x 7 inches.

Liz Wong Illustration

Girl and Bear Illustration by Liz Wong
So, I just created a new website for my illustration stuff: Liz Wong Illustration. I was hoping to get LizWong.com, but unfortunately with a name like Liz Wong, it's unlikely. Maybe if my name was Gladiolus Humperdinck, I could get gladiolushumperdinck.com, but then I might have some other issues to deal with as well.

Illustration Friday - Spring

Spring illustration by Liz Wong
It's our first spring out in the suburbs, and birds start chirping at an insane hour of the morning. I always used to love birds, but I guess that was when I didn't acutally have any around. Still, the birds are much better than drunk people outside yelling at 2 in the morning, and construction at 7 am. Yeah, I guess I'll take the birds.

More monsters

Aw, cyclops... he's a cute little fella!

Whatever you do, do not sit next to this guy at a bar. You'll never escape; he has a million stories about his old seafaring days.
