I Shop Indie
We are part of a really cool advertising collective called I Shop Indie. The idea behind it is that indie craft businesses can pool their advertising dollars to purchase ads that they couldn't afford on their own. The result is a website that is a hub for independent designers, and consumers can click through to individual designers' websites. In the end, consumers benefit from being exposed to a greater choice of goods than they would otherwise, and are also exposed to an alternative to mass produced goods.
This is one of the reasons that the indie business community is so great. Not only are designers creative in the products that they make, but in their overall approach to business. The community is constantly coming up with new ways to spread the word about their businesses, and doing it in a collective, mutually supportive manner.
Anyhow, that's my plug for indie businesses everywhere.

This is very cool. Is the collective open to other artists? Is it all artists around the country?
Yes, basically it is a collective formed over at The Switchboards, which is a forum for "creative women in business." The spots are limited, but open to anyone who has a crafty business that would appeal to the same sort of customer base.
This looks wonderful! Thank you for sharing. I will look into the site.
