Just finished this potential portfolio piece. Basically, it's just an excuse to draw people with powdered wigs. Watercolor and pencil on Arches cold press watercolor paper.
I realize this image may be somewhat on the creepy side but I rather like it anyway. This is a mermaid, btw. I'm working on an image that comes prior to this that is less creepy.
Here's the image that is meant to precede it in the sequence:
I redesigned my logo for the new year. It's done in watercolor and is intended to better match my new illustration style. I am busily working on updating my portfolio and my website.
A bit different from my usual, but I'm trying out a new style and new way of working. This was inspired by the young adult fantasy Silver Phoenix by Cindy Pon. Edit: I'm continuing to work on this image... and here's an updated version of the heroine's face.
A sketch for another portfolio piece in my new style... trying to combine mermaids, Venice, and lovely hair in one piece... all the things I love to draw.
As you can see, I'm partway through this piece. I'm working on changing my style and I'm really liking it so far... though it's pretty labor intensive.
What I've been up to lately... this is a scene from Treasure Island, done in watercolor with some photoshop. Still needs a bit more refining with the figure in the foreground, I think, but it's getting close to being done.
