Miranda July as Botticelli's "Birth of Venus"

Here's the finished Miranda July piece for the Stranger, coming out in this week's issue. I actually broke out the paints for this one, although there is some digital tweaking.
Please note that you are about to witness a Renaissance-style exposed breast, so if you feel that the Renaissance was a morally corrupt age full of far too much nudity, please avert your gaze at this point.
Otherwise, please feel free to look at the illustration and take note of my kick-ass sunset.

Every Day in May

So, another blogger had posted that she was going to do a painting every day in May. I thought this sounded like a good idea, since I haven't had much time to do paintings lately. However, it is now the 4th, and I have zero paintings to my name. Why I thought I could participate in this is beyond me. Anyhow, here's a study for an illustration I'm currently working on, which will be changing completely before it's done.
Maybe I'll have to do every week in May. Doesn't sound quite as snappy, does it?

Here's a recent painting from a set that we did as a Christmas gift for Eric's brother and sister-in-law. It's a portrait of their dog, Happy.

Sampler contribution for March

We have gotten together a contribution to the Sampler for March. It's four different designs of some little 4" x 5" cards.

Crafty Scientist Illustration

We just recently finished this illustration for the Crafty Scientist Experimental Design Lab. It's a great site, you should check it out. I love the "Failed Experiment" earrings (and only $5, too!), and of course the button set with our little spot illustrations of beakers and microscopes. And, not only is she a crafter, but she is a real scientist as well!

I redesigned my illustration portfolio site to include categories for kids, teens, and editorial/other custom illustration.

What can I say except, "Ohmigawd! My BFF is totally crushing on this hottie at school, and whenever she's around him, she turns into a garga-normous flirt!"
Yep, that's right. More illustration for the teen market.

Okay, I admit it. Garga-normous is a word that my coworkers made up to replace "gi-normous." It's a combo of gargantuan and enormous, for those of you that didn't get it. Try it out. It's the hot new word that EVERYBODY'S talking about!
