Illustration Friday - Holiday

holiday illustration for illustration friday
I was looking at all the Christmas lights on my way home tonight. We didn't put up any Christmas decorations at all this year. The people on our block must think we are a bunch of Scrooges.

art stash

This is a cool blog about the arts scene in Seattle, especially street art and some of the more interesting things going on in town. Maybe I'll have to actually get out more and see some things.

By the way, I spent the entire day in my pajamas yesterday.

Sailing, sailing

Sailing, sailing... let's pretend it's summer!

Illustration Friday - Blue

blue illustration friday
Once again, just under the wire for Illustration Friday! This week's topic is blue, and I was working on this illustration while thinking of the story of Tatterhood, which was one of my favorite fairy tales as a child. You see, the reason that this story is so great is because the main character (aka Tatterhood) is rambunctious and crazy looking, and rides around on a goat waving a wooden spoon. Yet, she is a princess. She fights off witches, she captains a boat with no crew, and did I mention she rides around on a goat? - I just loved her as a kid.

At any rate, this is the queen, weeping for the fact that she has no children. She will have two soon enough - one beautiful golden haired princess, and my beloved Tatterhood.

Jane Austen Society of North America

Did you know there was such a thing? I guess if I am obsessed with Jane Austen, there must be other people out there who are as well. Jane Austen Society of North America

I'm not even sure how I ended up on this site...

I Heart Rummage this Sunday

I Heart Rummage is this Sunday, December 4th from 12 - 4 pm at the Crocodile Cafe. We will also be there on December 18th from 12 - 4 pm. Rummage is pretty much the coolest craft fair in Seattle, full of great indie designers and artists! We'll have our small paintings, greeting cards, and purses, so come on by!

Also, here are some random cool blogs by people I know:
Fancy, Schmancy, and Pants are three stores in Seattle.

Our pal Bob Rini is a really talented artist and is part of the 7 Deadly Sinners Blog.

Pride and Prejudice The Comic Book - Chapter 4

Lizzy Bennet and her dear (but plain-looking) friend Charlotte Lucas discuss Mr. Bingley's sisters and their differing views on captivating the opposite sex.
For easier readability, I've made the images bigger and replaced my handwritten text with typed text.
Again, if you missed anything, here's Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 3.

Illustration Friday - Strength

Whew! These Fridays just keep sneaking up on me. Here's a very quick and sketchy drawing of a rabbit admiring his muscles (or lack thereof).

Illustration Friday - Night

Ah, this picture is kind of boring but it's Thursday night so I had to whip something together in a pinch.

Snake picture

Here's a drawing I did for my class... there will be text between the curves of the snake. I'd say more but I have to go watch Top Model.

Pride and Prejudice the Comic Book, Chapter 3

I know you've all been eagerly awaiting the next installment of the Pride and Prejudice Comic Book!
The beginning of the book is here. Basically, we meet Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, and learn that an eligible young bachelor, Mr. Bingley, is renting the nearby Netherfield Hall.
Chapter 2 is here if you missed it. In this Chapter we meet the Bennets' five daughters, and learn that there is an upcoming ball. We learn that Mr. Bennet, despite informing his wife to the contrary, has introduced himself to their new neighbor, thereby making it possible for the Bennet daughters to meet the young man at the assembly.

Illustration Friday - escape

No. 1 Rescue Squad in Action!
Here's a painting we recently completed for our show that opened on Friday. It luckily fit into the theme so I didn't have to create something just for I-Friday this week. Since we are still in the process of moving and catching up on past orders and getting ready for the next I Heart Rummage, I'm glad to have something already done. But I still kind of feel like a cheater.

Anyhow, this is part of a series of paintings that depicts the battle between good and evil - the cute deer and girls representing the good and the demons on the side of the bad. Here, the deer had been captured by the demons and imprisoned in their camp. The girls disguised themselves as demons and are seducing the enemy while their comrades in arms are outside liberating the deer.

This is the painting that comes right before it in the series, and depicts the deer being captured:

Art Opening at Trabant Chai Lounge!

Super Happy Number One Lollipop Fun Land

Opening this Friday, September 16th at Trabant Chai Lounge in Seattle's U-District! It's ArtGhost's first ever collaborative show. Finally Eric and I have combined our artmaking powers for good and not evil, creating a series of paintings that document the epic struggle of cute deer and girls vs. evil demons and robots.

We'll be there around 7 or 8 pm on Friday night, so come see us and say hi!
