Jump and I'll Catch You
"Jump. Jump, my love, and I'll catch you," she said.
Taking a break from painting my book to do a little illustration for fun.

Recently completed project - Miss Maureen
I recently finished this illustration project for Miss Maureen, an Australian musician who is releasing her debut album of children's music. It was a really fun project to work on, not only because I got to draw a mermaid, but also because I got to have Skype meetings with them and learn all sorts of bizarre Australian cultural tidbits. I illustrated 20 characters, one for each song, as well as a few other incidental illustrations and an album cover.
Here are just a few of my favorite images, and the album cover I designed for them. Website design and logo design was done by Marke. All 20 of the character images can be seen at MissMaureen.com.

Mysterious Window

A sketch for another portfolio piece in my new style... trying to combine mermaids, Venice, and lovely hair in one piece... all the things I love to draw.

New illustrations for Aeolidia

Aeolidia recently redid their site (they are awesome web designers), and they had their artists create new illustrations for them.
It's an underwater theme. By the way, the white things are sea slugs, Aeolidia papillosa a.ka. the shaggy mouse. It's a nudibranch, which is French for "naked lung," and also one of my favorite words, along with "atlatl" and "mukluks."
Anyhow, if you go to their site, you can see all the new illustrations. There's a nifty theme switcher doodad that will allow you to see all the artists' work.

Print for the Sampler!
We created a collaborative print with The Sampler for the February Sampler. It's a limited run of 250. You can get one in the Sampler Shop! By the way, I am totally into mermaids and narwhals right now.

Mermaid sketches
So, related to the previous post, sometimes something in that page of heads will spark an idea. This looked like a mermaid's head to me.

Then I went on a major mermaid kick:

I think I'm done drawing mermaids for a while.
Shortly thereafter, I went into my smoky-eyed waifs phase:

But, I'm tired of drawing these women now. Right now, shaggy-haired dudes seems to be emerging as a strong contender for the next wave of sketches.
